Second year student Charlotte Collins wins prestigious award

CharlotteCollinsAward

When Charlotte Collins attended the Association of Women in Property Awards she had no idea she would scoop one of the top prizes.

The Landscape Architect student was awarded a cheque for £300 and a crystal trophy at the ceremony in Bristol earlier in June. She won the Student Award for the winner of the South West Regional Final.
The Association of Women in Property is a national organisation seeking to enhance the profile of women in the property and construction industry. The awards celebrate the wealth of talent coming into the industry from university, and the guest speaker was Dr John Savage CBE, the author of High in Hope: 2050-a plan to regenerate Bristol.
Charlotte, who is based at the Francis Close Hall campus, has been working on the Shared Space project in St Paul’s, Cheltenham as part of her second year Design and Community module. The award recognized her work in the built environment, both as part of her course and work outside of the University.
She said: “I’m so pleased to have won the regional finals, it was tough competition. I’m looking forward to competing against nine other finalists from across the country at the Nationals in September, and the awards ceremony at Claridges afterwards! I’d also like to thank my lecturers for putting me forward for this award, the benefit I have received from it has already been incredible.”
Course Leader Bill Burford was delighted with the news. “It’s rare for a landscape architect to win this award and we are thrilled for Charlotte. We were confident she would be shortlisted and so it’s fantastic to see she went on to win!”
